I offer 45 OR 60 minute piano lessons once a week. Theory training is incorporated into every lesson. I strive to assign music that my students will enjoy playing when they get home so that they enjoy their practice time. I encourage students to explore different types of music and to make up their own compositions.
I try to have several "off the bench" activities during each lesson, especially with younger students. I use both the computer and iPad for theory practice and games. I use other 'props' and activities to keep students engaged. I hope that my students will gain musical knowledge that can become a stepping stone to learning other instruments as well as piano.
< Lessons During the Pandemic >
I offer both in person and remote lessons.
For lessons in the studio, masks are not mandatory. If you are more comfortable wearing masks just let me know and I will put one on!
My hope is to be part of the solution to this pandemic and take all precautions necessary. I will clean the keys between families. I have always requested that students wash their hands prior to their lesson and this will continue even after the pandemic has passed.
Remote learning via Zoom is also available if for some reason you cannot come to the studio but are available at home. I request that if a student or anyone in the family is sick that we have remote lessons until everyone in the family is healthy. This policy will remain in effect post-pandemic.
< Home Practice >
Practice is a vital part of learning to play the piano. I have practice incentives in place that encourage home practice. Parents will need to be involved as well. Young students especially will need help initially during home practice.
Piano in the home Students need to have a proper instrument at home to practice regularly. Although I prefer acoustic pianos, digital pianos and some keyboards will suffice.
Digital piano or keyboard should have:
Built-in case (not on a wobbly stand)
88 Full size 'touch sensitive' keys
A bench
Pedal
For more information you can call or email me, or go to the contact tab. I will gladly go over my tuition rates and policies and/or schedule a meeting at my studio.
